Hi, it’s me Nazia. I’m dedicating the whole corner to the Tsunami Disaster. Watching the news and seeing clips of people burying the dead really hurt me and brought tears to my eyes. And I know millions of people around the world felt the pain as I did for the victims of the Tsunami Disaster. You might be thinking that I always write serious articles but this article shows my pain and sympathy for the victims. And I am sure that you will feel for these victims too!!!

The earthquake struck deep under the sea bed of the Indian Ocean, sending land to collapse and rise under the sea. This caused the tsunami which struck villages and towns on the coasts of many countries. Causing devastation among communities within the countries, the disaster has taken many lives. News broadcasters shocked the world by showing images of waves several feet high ripping into the villages and causing wide spread destruction.

The Tsunami has taken over hundred thousand lives and yet more bodies are being found day by day. The missing still buried under rubble of collapsed buildings. Children crying because their hungry but the Tsunami has wiped all clean water and food near them. People mourning over loved ones. Number of dead is rising, the governments trying and begging for more aid for international countries. Populations from towns are wiped out. The Indonesians government have admitted that so many people have died that they would not know the exact figures.

But the aftermath of the Tsunami disaster may double the figures of dead. Diseases are spreading throughout the countries killing many more people. Aid agencies think that five million people are without the essentials like clean water, food and medical care. At least 80,000 people are now feared dead.

But more disturbing news has been broken to the world. They are expecting aftershocks of the earthquake which will cause more high waves. The Governments of the countries which the Tsunami has affected are warnng their people to move to higher ground. After shocks are these are smaller quakes which bring more damage to already weakened buildings and roads.

Land, especially hills, can also be damaged by earthquakes and can result devastating landslides and mudslides.

But for the first time I feel like the world has come together. As many countries are sending aids and money to the affected. Millions of pounds have been raised and aid agencies from many countries have flown aid to the needy. But is that enough? People are receiving aid but still thousands are not. Some countries are only small islands and most of their population has been wiped out. Day to day more people are dieing but the world are trying their best to give more aid to them.

All football matches held a minute silence before kick off to respect those whose lives have been taken by this disaster. At 12 o’clock on New Years day, people stood silent for minute, images running through their minds of the gigantic waves.

In the future will we forget the Tsunami Disaster and the people affected? I hope not! We all will have to carry on contributing more money and aid to these people to get their lives back on track. But will they recover from this trauma; will the children wake up from this nightmare?

God rest the souls of the people who have been killed and may they rest in peace. I hope people will carry on helping the needy in South Asia and West Africa. I know I will, but will you?

Below is a map of countries affected, and the number of dead.

1. Indonesia: 79,940

Band Aid single hits number one:

Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid 20 has stomped all over the competition to go straight to number one. Band Aid 20's song is a cover of the original track, released in 1984. It features Chris Martin, Dido, Robbie Williams and The Darkness. It's expected to make up to £20 million for charity. A great cause!

Busted's song for the Thunderbirds film has been voted Record of the Year. Thunderbirds Are Go beat off competition from bands like their friends McFly, US singer Anastacia and Pop Idol winner Will Young to take the gong. The song was Busted's fourth number one when it topped the charts in August, and was picked by the UK public as their favourite tune of 2004. McFly's tune Five Colours In Her Hair had been favourite to win, but in the end it came in second. Which I did not agree with the results as I personally thought McFly’s songs was much better.

After a three month split there are rumours that Brian and Kerry McFadden may be getting back together. They were recently spotted spending time together in London.

According to reports Duncan from Blue is going to quit Britain and start a new life in the States. He is planning to launch an acting career with his agent already lining up loads of auditions for him. But I want him to come back after the break because I am a fan of blue as well.

Sports:

David Beckham is worth £65m and is the richest football player in the UK, according to a new rich list. The list is published by FourFourTwo magazine and is put together by calculating how those involved in football have invested their wealth, and how much they earn. But that is a ridiculous amount of money, what about all those poor people in the world who are walking miles within miles to find water for their children!

Thierry Henry is one of three players in the running for Fifa's World Player of the Year award. Barcelona's Ronaldinho and AC Milan's Andriy Shevchenko are also up for the award, which will be announced on 20 December at Fifa's World Player Gala.

Teenage boxing star Amir Khan showed he had lost none of his winning form in his first competitive fight since taking silver at the Olympics. He defeated American Michael Evans 35-13 in a four-round match in Liverpool.

In the UK:

ANTI-BULLYING:-

Bullying is a big issue, but lots of kids don't want to talk to teachers or to their parents and family about it. Olympic gold champion Kelly Holmes and England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand are both backing a new anti-bullying campaign. The government thinks around one in three kids are bullied at some point at secondary school and a quarter of pupils at primary school. "Bullying creates misery for thousands of children, it is crucial that they know that they are not alone."Wearing the band will give young people the opportunity to make a visible commitment that they are not prepared to tolerate bullying and will stand by their friends."

In the UK many people are bullied due to many factors, their weight, looks, money, popularity and their brain. Many teenagers have committed suicide because they were getting bullied, bullies saying they will jump them if they told someone. I am totally against this, and I know many other people will be to. But now is the time to tackle and show the bullies we are not going to tolerate them. Not just in United Kingdom but all around the WORLD. Please leave your thoughts and answers in the forum or guest book about bullying.

ARE YOU AWARE!!! But remember if you see bullying and you do not do anything about it, you are bad as the bully. Don’t leave the victims to suffer in silence: help them out!!!
